Public Talk: Thirty-Seven Aspects of the Path to Enlightenment

When: Sunday January 25th, 10:00am – 12:00pm

Open to all. This is a rare opportunity for beginners and longtime students alike to receive teachings from one of the most highly regarded teachers of our time. Whether you are new to Buddhist practice or deepening a longtime path, this talk offers practical insights and inspiration.

About the Talk

The Thirty-Seven Aspects of the Path to Enlightenment—also called the Thirty-Seven Harmonies or Aids to Awakening (jangchö sö dün)—are a foundational set of practices found in the fourth chapter of Ornament of Clear Realizations. They provide guidance for meditation, ethical conduct, and the development of wisdom, forming the building blocks of the path to awakening.

During this talk, you will gain an introduction to teachings, including:

  • The Four Close Placements of Mindfulness – simple meditation reflections to stabilize the mind

  • The Noble Eightfold Path – practical guidance for ethical and mental training

  • The Four Thorough Abandonments – tools for overcoming obstacles in practice

  • The Four Legs of Magical Emanation – methods to transform daily experience into spiritual growth

  • The Five Powers & Five Strengths – qualities that support perseverance and insight

  • The Seven Branches of Enlightenment – steps that lead to full awakening

Why This Matters

Though associated with the Solitary Realizer path, these practices are essential for all practitioners, including bodhisattvas. They even appear at the heart of Highest Yoga Tantra mandalas, such as Heruka and Vajrabhairava, highlighting their central role in the path.

This talk is designed to provide clarity, inspiration, and practical ideas for integrating these teachings into your own practice.
